Nerdy Stuff & Goings On

Recently we visited the new Nerdy Stuff shop & its own little NerdyCon, a little gathering of gaming, comic book goodness, sci fi, fantasy film & small screen fun, artists & writers, oh my:

Outside the new Nerdy Stuff: comics & conversation...
Inside: room for several games & costume fun...
Super heroes, villains & fantastic characters...
Friendly chats...
A bit of sparring here & there...
And, um...Politics makes strange bedfellows?
Nerdy fun for everyone :)
How about you? Had any nerdy adventures lately?

Meeker Days

If you happen to be in the area, come visit us at Meeker Days in Puyallup, WA this  weekend. I will be there, among the ladies of the Tacoma Arts & Crafts Group, with the many goodies we have made. Come check our group & our shops & take in the sights, sounds, events & delicious scents wafting through the air.

Here's a little peek at what we will have at our booth, in case you are unable to make it (or even if you do):

Our booth, don't you love the logo?
A little "Magical Zen Garden" dinosaur included :)

Wild & fun, upcycled goodies, by Orange Door Cottage
My corner, samsstuff. I'm loving the skinny scarves I've been doing lately with recycled silk saris & silk chiffon
I hope you can stop by! SAM

Sundays in My City: The Puyallup Fair

This weekend, along with hoards of other people, we went to the Puyallup Fair. This fair has been around for eons (ok, not really eons, but decades, anyway) & is held twice a year in spring & in the fall. All the traditional fair type stuff can be found here, gardening, cooking, animals, food & rides. The theme this time was "Free Your Glee." Sorry, I don't get it, is it a reference to the show Glee (I love this show, by the way) & if so, why does this relate to a county fair? Was there a singing contest? I don't know. There were musical performances. Kid Rock was there (he's doing county fairs, now?) & we saw a brief part of some show where the entire group wore jumpsuits. The lead singer made reference to a 70's leisure suit he had in his closet, but from where I was standing he was born in the 70's, if he experienced the 70's at all. If he has a leisure suit in his closet, he must have bought it for the retro appeal !
